LUCKNOW: Launching a scathing attack on opposition, especially Samajwadi Party, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said parties surviving on dynasty politics have turned the 2022 assembly polls into a fight between nationalism on one side and rioters, gangsters and gun wielders on the other.
“Politics of dynasty-based parties has brought back disturbing memories of lawlessness, riots and crime which had become the order of the day till 2017 when people heaved a sigh of relief after the change of guard in UP.
The manner in which these parties have given tickets to goons and criminals, elections this time will be a fight between development and nationalism on one side and rioters, mafia dons and gun wielding goons on the other,” Yogi said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
He said when the BJP government will retain power on March 10 (day of assembly polls results announcement), these rioters and gangsters will take refuge in their boroughs. Till 2017, the state was in the hands of parties which had left the people at the mercy of goons and mafia dons. SP, BSP and the Congress are hand-picking the same rogue elements to field them as candidates. “Looking at the list of candidates of these parties, it is clear that people this time will have to choose between peace, rule of law and harmony versus those who back criminals and bank on gangsters,” he said.
Training his guns at SP, Yogi said the party pampers terrorists and rioters and by giving tickets to candidates with exhaustive criminal history the party has only made clear its plans of promising a rule riddled crime and criminals. “The history of candidates in itself is a manifestation of the kind of atmosphere they want to create in the state,” Yogi said, adding that the people of the state are wise enough and will give a befitting reply in the elections.
“It seems that the Samajwadi Party once again wants to push the state and its people into an atmosphere of riots. The basic character of an organisation never changes and the same is the case with SP. No matter what SP chief Akhilesh Yadav may say, the moment he gets the opportunity, he will protect rioters and let terrorists off the hook.
“SP has welcomed Imran Masood who had made extremely objectionable comments about PM Narendra Modi. They have given ticket to people like Nahid Hasan and former corporator from Saharanpur Moharrum Ali who is accused of setting a gurdwara on fire,” he said. They have fielded people like Aslam Chaudhary in Dhaulana, Haji Yunus in Bulandshahr, Rafeeq Ansari in Meerut, Madan Bhaiya in Loni, Amarpal in Sahibabad, and Dilnawaz in Siyan. The list in itself says it all, CM said adding that these people are habitual offenders, history sheeters and gangsters.
