Nagpur graph nearing plateau; Covid surges in other dists
Nagpur: The number of daily Covid cases reached 4,666 in Vidarbha on Tuesday, which is highest in the present wave. Nagpur which used to account for more than 60% of day’s cases from Vidarbha contributed 2,407 of them, which means slightly higher than 50%.
Nagpur’s graph appears to have reached a plateau with nearly 2,500 cases being reported in the past 3 days despite increased testing.
On the other hand, other districts are reporting a surge now. On Tuesday, Wardha, Akola and Chandrapur reported over 300 new cases each; Buldhana, Amravati, Bhandara reported more than 200 new cases each. Thus the region’s caseload reached 11,56,387.
Recoveries continued to rise in the region. Total 1,629 patients recovered on Tuesday. Another respite was reduced Covid toll. After reporting 7 deaths per day for the last 2 days, the region reported only 1 death on Tuesday. A patient from Ballarpur who died during treatment of heart ailment tested Covid positive.
With more new cases, the number of under-treatment patients surged above 25,000 on Tuesday. Six districts have more than 1,000 patients under treatment, with Nagpur having 14,296. Majority of patients are still recovering in home isolation.
Overall test positivity of Vidarbha reached 20% on Tuesday. Nagpur, Akola and Amravati have over 20% test positivity. Experts say the test positivity rate will continue to rise for one more week.
Yavatmal: The district recorded 75 cases during the last 24 hours. Currently there are 761 active positive cases. The administration received 841 test reports. Of the 74,023 positive patients, 71,474 were found negative, including 46 on Tuesday.

The test positivity rate is 9.21 %, death positivity rate 2.42%. Daily positivity rate is 8.83%. The district has 1,718 beds for Covid patients.
Amravati: A spike of 263 new cases took the district’s caseload to 98,436 while 91 recoveries took the total to 95,212 on Tuesday. Total 1,195 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. With no deaths reported, the number of active cases under treatment reached 1,622 .
Wardha: The district recorded the highest single day cases and recoveries after 368 tested positive from 1,037 reports and 140 got discharged on Tuesday. The caseload and total recoveries increased to 51,186 and 48,532 respectively. The active positive patients under treatment are 1,264 while toll remained unchanged at 1,328 as no new death was reported in the last 24 hours.
Chandrapur: With 352 detections on Tuesday, the district witnessed the highest spike of cases during the third wave. There were 98 recoveries and one death, leaving 1,822 active patients under treatment. The deceased male was from Ballarpur town. There were 2,156 tests conducted during the last 24 hours. The covid caseload has risen to 91,258, which includes 87,879 recoveries and 1,546 deaths. In all 8,23,189 samples have been tested so far of which 7,30,425 have been found negative.
Akola: Total 1,335 tests were conducted in the district in last 24 hours. Out of them, 367 tested positive. The district now has 1,766 patients under treatment. The Covid caseload has reached 60,286. With 198 patients recovering in the day, 57,375 of them have recovered in total.
Buldhana: Out of 1,841 tests conducted in last 24 hours, 265 tested positive. This took caseload to 89,270. With 74 recoveries in the day, 87,194 of them have recovered so far. Total, 1,400 are under treatment.
Gadchiroli: The district reported 169 new cases in last 24 hours, while 111 recovered. Total 902 tests were conducted. Now, the district has 738 patients under treatment.
Gondia: Total 143 new cases were reported in the district out of 878 tests done in last 24 hours. The district now has 1,015 patients under treatment. Out of total 42,635 patients reported so far, 40,904 have recovered.
Bhandara: In all 2,015 tests were conducted in the district in last 24 hours and 225 of them tested positive. This took the Covid caseload to 61,160. With 56 patients recovering on Tuesday, 59,306 have recovered and 720 are under treatment.
