Many restrictions in Scotland will be scrapped from Monday as cases from the Omicron surge fall.

In an update yesterday, Nicola Sturgeon said recent figures "gives us confidence that we have turned the corner on the Omicron wave" and announced the end to many restrictions.

The most recent data from Public Health Scotland shows a drop in positive tests with numbers showing 20.9 per cent of PCR tests are positive - a decrease from 36 per cent in early January.

Cases are now on a downward slope and the First Minister said there has been a 'significant fall' in positive cases.

That said, the number of Covid cases in the country is still high.

Latest figures show only five out of 32 areas in Scotland are outwith the highest positivity rate.

Yesterday saw 7,752 new cases reported from positive PCR and lateral flow tests.
