KURUKSHETRA: The anti-narcotic cell (
ANC) of
Kurukshetra police arrested an accused person after recovering 4.50 kilogram of opium from his possession in Thanesar Sadar police station area on Tuesday.
The arrested accused has been identified as
Amarjit Singh of
Palasi Kalan in Nalagarh area of Solan district of Himachal Pradesh (HP). The police said accused Amarjit was produced in the district court on Wednesday, which granted his 10-day police remand to Kurukshetra ANC.

Karan Goel said that on Tuesday, the ANC Kurukshetra team was present on patrol at Pipli Chowk.
"The team received the tip-off that Amarjit Singh travels towards West Bengal in his HP numbered truck, and while returning from there, he smuggles opium. It was informed that Amarjit has brought opium from West Bengal side and his truck is parked near New Moga
Punjab Dhaba on Pipli to Shahabad GT Road", said
ASP Karan.
He said the team acted accordingly and raided the suspected location near the said dhaba and Thanesar tehsildar Abhimanyu Singh was called on the spot and accused was nabbed.
"Upon checking Amarjit's truck as per procedure, the ANC team recovered 4.50 kg opium", said ASP Karan.
He said that a case was registered against Amarjit under relevant Sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Thanesar Sadar police station on Tuesday.
