KALYAN: The Shiv Sena managed to retain their power in Maharashtra's Shahapur nagar panchayat by winning maximum 10 seats against BJP who won 7 seats.
In Murbad nagar panchayat, BJP has managed to retain power again by winning maximum 10 seats despite Shiv Sena senior leader Eknath Shinde putting all his efforts to defeat the saffron party.
Shahapur nagar panchayat’s defeat for BJP is considered as a big blow for BJP MP and Union minister of state Kapil Patil.

Patil, under whose Bhiwandi Lok Sabha Shahapur nagar panchayat comes falls, tried his best to win the election but he failed to get the magic figure of 9 to get the majority in 17 seats.
In Shahapur, Shiv Sena won 10 seats while BJP, who earlier had 4 seats, this time won 7 seats. In Shahapur, where NCP has its MLA, the party has not won a single seat.
On the other hand, in Murbad nagar panchayat, BJP MLA Kishan Kathore, who has a strong hold, managed to retain his power in the civic body by winning maximum of 10 seats. Kathore said, “We won the election because of development work done by BJP in Murbad nagar panchayat limits in the last five years".
