MUMBAI: The upcoming
West Indies tour of India, consisting of a six-match limited overs series, could now be played only in Ahmedabad and Kolkata due to the Covid-19 surge in the country.
“The
tours and fixtures committee of the
BCCI held a meeting today. It was initially thought that the series could be played in multiple venues.
However, due to the covid situation, the committee has recommended that the white-ball series will now only be played in two venues — Ahmedabad and Kolkata,” a source in the BCCI told TOI on Wednesday.
The BCCI is expected to announce the finalised fixtures of the series in a day or two.
The ODI series will begin from February 6. Originally, the ODI series was to begin in Ahmedabad, the second ODI was to be played in Jaipur on 9 February, and the third ODI was to be played in Kolkata on 12 February.
The T20 Internationals series was scheduled to be played in Cuttack, Visakhapatnam, and Thiruvananthapuram respectively.
