LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party received another setback on Wednesday when its MLA from Hardoi,
Nitin Agarwal formally resigned from the primary membership of the party. Agarwal also resigned from the post of deputy speaker in
Vidhan Sabha for which he was elected in October with the backing of
BJP.
Nitin has been openly siding with BJP after his father and former SP Rajya Sabha MP
Naresh Agarwal defected to the saffron outfit in 2018.
He is expected to formally join the BJP soon.
Nitin was first elected from Hardoi in 2008 on
BSP ticket after his father resigned from the seat after defecting to BSP. In 2010, BSP chief Mayawati picked Naresh Agarwal for Rajya Sabha. Two years later, Naresh defected back to SP.
