Tamil Nadu: 3 die in wall collapse in Perambalur

PERAMBALUR: Three women died after the wall of a cattle shed collapsed on them. The incident took place at Kamban Nagar in Madhanagopalapuram in Perambalur district on Wednesday.
The deceased were Ramayi, 44, Poovayi, 70, and Karpagam, 55, of the same family. The Perambalur police said that Ramayi's husband Vaithilingam had planned to construct a small shop by altering the cattle shed near their house.
Police said that the wall was being constructed by hollow blocks.As the work was on for the past few days, the heap of sand for construction was kept inside the shed.
At around 4pm on Wednesday, when Ramayi, Vaithilingam's mother Poovayi, their family member Karpagam were sitting and chatting near the wall, it collapsed on them. All of them were severely injured and rushed to the government hospital in Perambalur.
