CHENNAI/SALEM: DVAC sleuths commenced searches at 57 places that belonged to former AIADMK minister K P Anbalagan, his relatives and supporters in Chennai, Salem and Dharmapuri districts on Thursday morning.
Searches were also carried out at the residence and other premises of AIADMK MLA A Govindasamy.
The DVAC initiated the search after M Krishnamoorthy filed a petition in the Madras high court seeking direction to the agency to begin a probe based on his plea.

Krishnamoorthy alleged former AIADMK higher education minister Anbalagan amassed wealth in his name and that of his family members, including wife A Mallika, sons Sasimohan and Chandrasekaran, daughter-in-law Vaishnavee and others, disproportionate to their known sources of income.
Meanwhile, the DVAC ordered an inquiry and based on the information gathered, a case was registered against Anbalagan, Mallika, Sasimohan, Chandrasekaran and Vaishnavee.
“The allegation against Anbalagan is that he has amassed wealth worth around Rs 11 crore in his name and that of his family members and others which is disproportionate to their known sources of income,” a senior DVAC official told TOI.
"Subsequent to the case being registered, the searches are being conducted in 57 places at Chennai, Dharmapuri and Salem districts on Thursday," said the DVAC official.
