THE CENTRAL Railway will operate an 14-hour infrastructure block on fast line between Thane and Diva stations from Saturday night for carrying out a cut and connection of old redundant slow line with existing fast lines and commissioning of crossovers in connection with new Thane-Diva lines.
The Central Railway has been operating the mega block for the past two months as a part of completing the work of new 5th and 6th line/tracks between Thane-Diva stations.
The block will be operated for 14 hours on Down fast line (towards Kasara Karjat from CSMT) from 1.20am on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. It will continue till Sunday, 3.20pm.
During the block period, trains will run on Up and Down slow lines between Diva-Thane instead of fast lines. Due to the block, train running pattern will change. Kalyan-bound Mail/Express trains will not be halting at Thane station an hour before the start of block.
The trains will be diverted on the Down slow line between Mulund and Kalyan. Thane passengers are permitted to board their respective trains from Dadar and Kalyan stations.konkan bound Down mail exp trains will halt and run via Platform no. 7 at Thane, said an official.
There will also be a mega block on its Harbour line sections on Sunday for carrying out various engineering and maintenance works. The block will be between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) – Chunabhatti/ Bandra Down harbour line from 11.40am to 4.40pm and from Chunabhatti / Bandra- CSMT Up harbour line from 11.10am to 4.10pm.
An official said the services will be suspended on the Down Harbour line on Sunday between 11.16am and 4.47pm from CSMT to Vashi /Belapur/Panvel and on the Down Harbour line from CSMT to Bandra/Goregaon from 10.48am to 4.43pm.
The services will be suspended on the Up line too, from Panvel/Belapur/Vashi to CSMT between 9.53am to 3.20pm and Goregaon and Bandra railway station to CSMT from 10.45am to 5.13pm. “Special services will run between Panvel and Kurla during the block period. Harbour line passengers are permitted to travel via Main Line and Western Railway from 10am to 6pm during block period,” said Shivaji Sutar, Central Railway CPRO.
