IBSD launches Covid testing lab in Mizoram

Imphal, January 20 2022:
Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Takyelpat launched Mobile Diagnostic Laboratory (I-LAB) for COVID testing in Mizoram on Thursday.
The I-LAB was launched virtually by Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga and Union minister of state for science & technology Dr Jitendra Singh in the presence of Department of Biotechnology (Government of India), Dr Rajesh S Gokhale, Mizoram Health & Family Welfare minister Dr R Lalthangliana and IBSD Imphal director Prof Pulok Kumar Mukherjee.
According to an IBSD release, Dr Jitendra congratulated the Mizoram CM for dedicating the Mobile I-Lab for the remote areas of the NE region and suggested that such mobile testing facilities should be linked to telemedicine in future.
In his address, Mizoram CM Zoramthanga expressed gratitude Dr Jitendra for providing the mobile I-Lab facility saying it would help Mizoram combat Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr R Lalthangliana also appreciated efforts of the IBSD director and department of Biotechnology for providing Mobile I-Lab to Mizoram.
During his address, IBSD director Pulok Mukherjee mentioned about the different initiatives taken up by IBSD to fight against COVID and highlighted the importance and features of Mobile I-Lab to facilitate large scale testing and detection of people in remote areas in Mizoram and other states of NER.
The programme was attended by scientists from DBT, IBSD, BIRAC, MOES, AMTZ team and many officials of state departments of Mizoram.
