BHOPAL: Covid numbers in Madhya Pradesh shot up to 9,385 daily cases on Thursday - an alarming 25% surge in 24 hours. It's been only 19 days since the daily count had touched 100 in this wave.
The spike in infection is three times the pace recorded last year, when daily cases rose from about 150 t0 10,000 in 77 days. The positivity rate has shot up to 11.7% from 9.8% recorded 24 hours earlier.
Hospitalisation, thankfully, has dropped to 2.2% of active cases.

The phenomenal spread of the virus can be gauged from how fast daily numbers have gone from 1,000 on January 6 to nearly 10 times in less than two weeks. It has nearly doubled in five days and the daily numbers had crossed 7,000 just two days ago.
Over 68,000 new infections have been detected in the last 20 days - 70% of this has come in just seven days, that's how fast cases are multiplying.

Patient dies of Covid in Gwalior, MP toll rises to 10553
Ten deaths have been reported in a week, including one from Gwalior on Thursday, taking the state's toll to 10,553, according to the state health bulletin.
MP's Covid tally stands at 862,029. MP's recovery count rose to 801,735 after 3,616 people were discharged during the day, leaving the state with 49,741 active cases.
Half of the active cases are in Indore (15,751) and Bhopal (8,934) Indore (3,005) and Bhopal (1,710) registered the most infections on Thursday. Around 80,072 samples were tested across the state.
