MUMBAI: The delay faced by learner's licence applicants while booking test slots is likely to reduce, following the Tardeo regional transport office's (RTO) move to increase the daily slots from 630 to 903.
Sources said that there will be 154 daily slots for those whose learners licence has just expired and were unable to give the test.
"The driving tests are being conducted almost throughout the day now -- from 9am to 6pm," said regional transport officer Bharat Kalaskar.

Total daily slots for driving licence tests at all four RTOs in Mumbai -- Tardeo, Andheri, Wadala and Borivali -- has gone up by over 77% past few months.
In 2020-21, the city RTOs would conduct about 900 driving tests daily. This number has gone up to 1,600 tests daily now.
A transport official said that the work orders will soon be issued for automated tracks for Andheri and Tardeo RTOs following which it will take around a year to set it up. "Our objective is to replace all manual tests with 100% computerised sensor based tests across Maharashtra. It will give accurate results and ensure that only those who have proper skills to drive cars/ride bikes and have knowledge on road safety/traffic rules qualify," he added.
