Manchester United could be without Cristiano Ronaldo as they welcome West Ham to Old Trafford on Saturday.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick said Ronaldo needed lengthy treatment on a neck injury on Thursday and was now a doubt for the visit of West Ham this weekend. Ronaldo was unhappy at being substituted versus Brentford but didn't show any signs of injury.

But the German revealed Ronaldo will need to be assessed before the game, as will his obvious replacement Edinson Cavani, who was also unable to train on Thursday. “Cristiano is a question mark because he has a problem with his neck," said Rangnick

"He received treatment yesterday for two to three hours and we will have to wait to see how he feels today [Friday]."

In transfer news, Rangnick has confirmed Newcastle have shown an interest in Jesse Lingard.

Recap all the latest news from United with our updates below.

'If Guardiola would have gone in the same thing would have happened’

This afternoon sees David Moyes back at Old Trafford as he aims to get one over his old side in the race for the top four.

Moyes' time at Old Trafford is of course not remembered too fondly by supporters - having been chosen by Sir Alex Ferguson as his successor, he was unceremoniously dumped after less than a year, and his career looked to only be heading one way thereafter.

Today though, he heads back to United in the ascendency over his old club, and ahead of his return, the Manchester Evening news got the inside story on what went wrong in Moyes' time in charge from former physio Mick Rathbone.

I think it was just the tide comes in, the tide comes out, and the tide was going out at Man U.

Whoever would have taken over, after them 20 odd years of Sir Alex there had to be a period of mourning and unfortunately whoever went in was going to be faced with that.

Rangnick gives Ronaldo advice on emotional reaction

Cristiano Ronaldo's reaction to being substituted at Brentford on Wednesday has been the main talk surrounding the build-up to today's game.

Much has been made of his angry reaction to being hauled off the pitch in London, although he looks set to retain his place for this afternoon's game.

And Ralf Rangnick has urged Ronaldo not to show as much emotion should he be substituted again.

I don’t blame him for that but obviously any manager I think would wish it shouldn’t be too emotional and also in front of the TV cameras I don’t think that this will be for the benefit of anyone, not to his benefit, not to the benefit of the teammates and in the end, it’s an emotional game and players are being emotional and I didn’t take it personally at all.

Rangnick confirms Lindelof absence for West Ham

Ralf Rangnick has confirmed Victor Lindelof will not play for United against West Ham after a burglary at his family's home.

Lindelof's wife, Maja, revealed there was a break-in at their house on Wednesday night while Lindelof was in London with the United squad for their 3-1 Premier League win at Brentford.

Maja Nilsson-Lindelof was at home with the couple's two sons when the break-in occurred, but they managed to hide in a room.
