NOIDA: Two persons have been arrested for allegedly barging inside a flat in Sector 70 on Wednesday and fleeing with jewellery and cash worth Rs 10 lakh , cops said on Friday. Police have also managed to recover the stolen goods from the arrested duo.
According to police, the house belonged to Kalyan Mondal, additional general manager at National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC).
“On Wednesday afternoon, Mondal’s wife Jyoti Mondal and their two children were in the house when the robbery took place,” said Elamaran G, additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP), Central Noida.
He added that around 3:30pm, someone knocked at the door and Mondal’s daughter went to open it. Two masked criminals caught her by the neck and started shouting to handover all the valuables. “She could barely manage to scream and alert her mother,” the officer said.
The ADCP added that a case was registered against the suspects under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), section 342 (wrongful consignment) and section 392 (robbery) of the IPC. “The CCTV footages from the area were scanned and in one of the clips, one of the accused was identified as Vikas Singh (22), a native of Farrukhabad. Teams were formed to nab him and after conducting searches at hideouts, he was arrested from Ghaziabad on Friday morning,” Elamaran said.
During investigation, it was found that Vikas worked as a caretaker at a Gurukul-run building in Noida. The second floor of the building, where the robbery took place, was also with Gurukul and Vikas visited it frequently. “The accused revealed he was aware that Mondal was out and they could get a hefty amount in a robbery,” said Vivek Trivedi, SHO, Phase 3 police station.
Vikas planned everything and involved his friends Naveen Kumar (23) and Bhura (22), both residents of Ghaziabad.

“On Wednesday afternoon, the three suspects reached the society on a Royal Enfield motorcycle belonging to Vikas’s brother. Vikas knocked on the door and left the spot, and the two other accomplices committed the robbery,” the SHO added.
Police have also arrested Naveen and recovered the stolen valuables and motorcycle used in the crime. “The accused were produced before the court and sent to judicial custody. Additionally, teams are working to nab Bhura, who is absconding at the moment,” Trivedi said.
A footage was also found in which the three men with their faces covered were seen entering the building at regular intervals and one of the suspects was seen carrying a backpack.
