Among them are Traffic Cone, Mushroom and Rockhopper, with many fans believing Welsh singing stars could be behind the masks.

And while we won't know who the characters officially are until they're unveiled, there is plenty of speculation as the competition continues.

Traffic Cone

Following Traffic Cone's first performance, a rendition of Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up, many fans at home thought it could be none other than the legendary Sir Tom Jones behind the mask.

"Traffic Cone sounded like Sir Tom Jones to me but the clues have me stumped," wrote one fan, while another added: "Traffic Cone sounds like Tom Jones, even the tache looks like his."

Another thought the construction workers on stage and in the videos could also be a clue, tweeting: " Traffic Cone is definitely Tom Jones.

"I remember him saying on The Voice he worked in construction before he made it big!"

However, following the characters second batch of clues and performance many suggested it was another Welsh star, singer and radio and television presenter Aled Jones.

While many think Traffic Cone sounds like Aled Jones, others think many of the clues point to him too.

Aled Jones

During week two the character said "I had a gold plated childhood" as part of their two lies and a truth which many thought could be reference to Walking On Air.

There were also many mention of tennis, with Traffic Cone saying: "I squared off against the fourth best in the world once. Cheeky!

"But I also got smashed at Wimbledon. Still, there's nothing like the sound of fans in the stands shouting your name."

One confident guesser, said: "The Traffic Cone is clearly Aled Jones.

"That was unmistakably his voice. He sang at Wimbledon as a kid, and had a gold record ('gold plated childhood') as a kid."

Opera singer Russell Watson is also adamant Traffic Cone is Aled Jones.

During a recent interview, he said: "I know who that is.

"The strange thing is, I didn't know who it was when I saw the first performance, I had no idea. Then I heard the second performance and I know who it is."

"I'm absolutely certain," he added. "He's not admitted it, he's not mentioned it at all, but I'm convinced that is my mate Aled Jones."

Some viewers at home think Welsh singer Charlotte Church could be Mushroom, although judges think they can hear a northern accent behind the mask.

"After rewatching both performances I'm convinced Mushroom is Charlotte Church," wrote one viewer.

"When she belts it's exactly her vocal tone plus a lot of the clues work for her."

Another added: "Just catching up on last night's episode, is it just me or does anyone else think Mushroom is Charlotte Church?"

In the second instalment of the show a number of props were shown in the VT including the letter W in a bush, milk bottles, a gavel and chattering teeth.

One viewer tweeted: "I love Mushroom - fantastic singer, brilliant at accents and SUCH a fun-gi! Has to be Charlotte Church now that the clues back her up!

"Sang at inauguration of George W Bush, was in Under MILK Wood, JUDGE on Over The Rainbow, hosted a CHAT show."

A popular guess among the viewers and judges for Rockhopper is Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts.

Following their second performance Rockhopper said "I'm a big fan of a weekend meal delivered in the evening" as part of their two lies and a truth.

Judge Jonathan Ross thought this could be a Saturday Night Takeaway reference which Ashley appeared in.

Another name doing the rounds is Spiderman actor Zendaya, with Rita Ora and viewers thinking the many The Greatest Showman references could be linked to the Hollywood star.

However, some people think they can hear Welsh singer Cerys Matthews behind the mask.

The star is best known for being a founding member of the Welsh rock band Catatonia.

"Rockhopper is Cerys Matthews," wrote one viewer, while another added: "Could Rockhopper be Cerys Matthews from Catatonia?"
