Next, they searched Instagram to see how many times each five-star hotel had been tagged by users to indicate each one’s Insta-worthiness and ranking. Finally, the properties were ranked highest to lowest to create the Top 20 lists, which are further broken down by region in the original study on their website.

With a whopping 2,428,501 hashtags, the obvious winner is the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah in Dubai, while several U.S. hotels—Bellagio Las Vegas, The Plaza New York, The Beverly Hills Hotel, Halekulani and 1 Hotel South Beach—also appeared in the Top 20 for both world and North America categories.
