LUCKNOW: Two more Covid-19 deaths were reported in the city on Saturday, while 2,660 more people tested positive for novel coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours.
A 48-year-old man, who was admitted to SGPGI a week ago following breathing difficulty and diagnosed with Covid-19, succumbed to the disease.
“The man was shifted to ventilator support as his condition deteriorated on Friday, but died of cardiac arrest,” said a senior health department officer.
Details of the other death were not shared by the department.
The third wave has claimed nine lives and infected 34,995 people so far since December 22. About 17,459 patients including 2,638 on Saturday have recovered so far. The number of active cases is 17,536.
The fresh cases included 74 healthcare workers and 13 pregnant women. Officials said they tested positive during the regular testing and contact tracing drives. Most of the patients are asymptomatic and were recovering in their homes, they added. “Only about 70 patients of the total testing positive in the past 24 hours had to be admitted in hospital due to moderate symptoms. A few patients whose condition is serious are mainly those who have comorbidities,” said chief medical officer Dr Manoj Agarwal.
Chinhat reported the maximum cases at 377, followed by Aliganj (341), Alambagh (328), Indiranagar (202), Sarojininagar (218), NK Road (111) and Turiyaganj (110), among others.
Meanwhile, at least 51,193 people were vaccinated against Covid-19 on Saturday.
