Kuwaiti Tennis Player Refuses to Face Zionist Opponent

KUWAIT (Dispatches) -- Social media activists hailed a Kuwaiti tennis player for withdrawing from an international tennis competition in order not to face an Israeli opponent.
Muhammad al-Awadi withdrew from the J4 Dubai Tournament 2022 that is taking place in the UAE city from January 17 to 22.
Social media activists lauded the move as a rejection of normalization of ties with the Zionist occupiers of Palestine. The move was in line with Kuwait’s support for the Palestinian cause, they said.
Yusuf al-Sanad, a member of the Persian Gulf Scholars Union, wrote on Twitter that the Kuwaiti hero announced his withdrawal from the competition in solidarity with the people of Palestine and in rejection of the Zionist regime’s terrorism.
“Greetings and thanks to the Kuwaiti hero Muhammad al-Awadi for his refusal to normalize sports competition with the Zionists,” Osama al-Shaheen, a member of Kuwait’s parliament, tweeted.
The Youths for Al-Quds Society, writing on its Instagram page, said normalization with the Zionist regime is an act of treachery and that the Kuwaiti tennis player’s move is worthy of praise.
