1 in 10 exhibit Covid symptoms in Hyderabad

A door-to-door fever survey taken up in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits found that at least one in 10 persons has been suffering from fever and other Covid symptoms, according to health officials.

HYDERABAD: A door-to-door fever survey taken up in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits found that at least one in 10 persons has been suffering from fever and other Covid symptoms, according to health officials.
Though the survey is yet to be completed, officials indicate this is more compared to the previous fever survey, which had one in 26 persons with Covid-related symptoms.

Health officials said that they had surveyed over 26,000 households on the second day across the city. So far, combining both days — day one and two of the fever survey —officials said that over 60,000 households had been covered and 5,900 people were found symptomatic.
District medical and health office’s data in Hyderabad district alone, shows that there were 2,416 symptomatic persons. During the first fever survey, 1,487 out of 40,000 households surveyed were found with Covid symptoms, which makes it one in 26.
At least 840 teams, each comprising an ANM (auxiliary nurse midwife), an ASHA worker and a GHMC entomology worker, fanned out across the city. Twenty-eight people were sent to hospital, either as an out-patient or for admission.
Addressing the media, health minister T Harish Rao, who was taking part in the fever survey in Siddipet district, said that officials had surveyed 12. 68 lakh people across the state and over 45,000 people were found to behaving Covid symptoms.

Based on the preliminary figures, this makes one in 26 peo ple in Telangana with fever. Officials said that a clear picture from the survey could only be attained by Thursday, by when90% of the survey would be completed.
“Apart from providing health kits, the health officials also track people who are symptomatic and provide the necessary assistance. Weare likely to complete the survey in another five to six days,” Harish Rao said.
Officials said that a high number of people with fever and other Covid symptoms were found in urban slums, indicating that there was a community spread.
Hundreds of workers were working round-the-clock to prepare one crore home isolation kits for distribution across the state. Already, a large number of them have been sent to government hospitals in the state. The kit contains azithromycin, paracetamol, levo cetrizine, ranitidine, Vitamin C and D and multivitamin tablets.
