Winston-Salem police investigate shooting after victim arrives at hospital
Authorities with the Winston-Salem Police Department are investigating a shooting that left a person injured.
Officials said officers responded to the area of Tower Street on reports of someone firing gunshots on Saturday at 3:25 p.m.
When they arrived to the scene, officers said they found a red Ford Mustang. No one was inside the vehicle at the time. The car appeared to have been involved in a vehicle collision, police added, and had bullet holes as well.
There were no witnesses in the area, they said.
Police later learned a victim arrived to a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the back.
Officials identified the victim as 19-year-old Jose Colon.
Officers tried to speak with Colon, authorities said, but he was "less than forthcoming about the investigation."
Colon could not provide a reason why someone would shoot him, officials added.
He's being treated for his non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the suspect is described to be a "Hispanic man driving a four-door beige sedan."
