Match of the Day host Gary Lineker has joined the ever-increasing list of Michael Olise admirers.

Olise, 20, is a product of the Reading FC academy before he left the club last summer in an £8m move to Crystal Palace.

The playmaker has been eased into Premier League football by Palace boss Patrick Vieira, with only four of his 16 appearances to date coming as starts in the top flight.

The French youth international has caught the eye in recent weeks, however, with goals in the league defeat to West Ham and FA Cup win over Millwall.

Olise was rewarded for some fine recent performances with a start for the Eagles against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

And again he has been one of the stand-out players on show, with Lineker highlighting his impact by saying on Twitter: "Talking of talented young players: Michael Olise is very, very gifted."

Lineker's assessment will surprise very few Reading supporters who have followed his progress over the past few years.

Olise, who won the EFL young player of the year award last season, ended up making 73 first-team appearances for Royals before his exit in July.

Fellow MOTD pundit Ian Wright has sung the praises of Olise already this season.

The Arsenal legend said at the turn of the year that Olise is going to be 'a real player while in November he said how excited he was to see him in the first team at Palace.

Vieira's side lost the game to Liverpool 3-1 at Selhurst Park.
