Nagpur: Last year in January, city boy Shreenabh Agrawal was selected for the Rashtriya Bal Puraskar for which the award ceremony is scheduled in New Delhi on January 26. However, due to Covid, the event is being held in digital mode.
Shreenabh is currently enrolled in the first year of Bachelor of Science degree at the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (Bengaluru).
Since he was aware of this award, the excitement had ebbed but not his eagerness to do more. “Last year, around the same time, I recieved information about me being chosen for this award. I was selected under the innovation category, after a science project I did for the government-sponsored exhibition was appreciated by all. That project involved how to deal with infections in plants,” said Agrawal.
Currently in Nagpur because the spread of Omicron has once again shifted academics to online mode, Agrawal said, “I have a series of exams this week so my entire focus is there. I will definitely miss the thrill of attending the ceremony in person.”
The RBP comes with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a certificate. “The certificate will be transferred to me using blockchain technology, while the cash was given last year itself,” said Agrawal.
And the lad is definitely aware about savings as the Rs 1 lakh cash is intact in his account and gathering interest.
Agarawal is not new to accolades as his exploits in the merit list of ICSE have been well documented. He also authored the book ‘Thank You Modiji’ a few years ago based on various schemes launched by the Prime Minister.
