Suspects aged 27, 28 and 42 are expected to appear on Monday, 24 January 2022 in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on counts of murder and attempted murder.

It is alleged that on Friday, 21 January 2022, at approximately 01.30 the suspects shot and wounded two victims in Ivory Park shanties in Roodepan. The victims were transported to the Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital for medical treatment.

One victim sustained gunshot wounds in the upper body, and succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical treatment and the other victim sustained gunshot wound in the arm is hospitalised.

The suspects were traced and apprehended by the Roodepan detectives, Roodepan Visible police together with Kimberley Flying Squad members on Friday, 21 January 2022.

Two of the suspects were arrested in Roodepan while one suspects was arrested in Rhodesdene, Kimberley.

The fourth suspect is on the run. Any information that could assist the police to bring the suspect to book, can be communicated with the Roodepan Detective Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Mashodi on 082 4690 681.

However the suspect on the run is considered to be heavily armed, we request the community members not to approach him, instead alert the police or contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or share the information via the MySAPS App

The Frances Baard District Commissioner, Major General Johan Bean commended the members for their swift response in arresting the suspects.
