The 1978 University of Miami freshman class poses for a group photo. Recruited by then head coach Lou Saban, this group was arguably the most important recruiting class in program history. In the late 1970s, the university was on the verge of dropping football. This group of players literally saved UM football. Miami went from a perennial losing program into a top 10 team by their senior years in 1981.
