Kerala: Cinema halls, gyms, swimming pools closed in Thiruvananthapuram

As per the decision, capital Thiruvananthapuram has been included in the Category 3 (threshold 3) which will bring in more restriction. In the district, it has been found that more than 25% of the people getting hospitalized are Covid patients.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The categorization of the districts based on the hospital admissions and the corresponding restrictions will come into place in Kerala from Tuesday. This was decided at the Covid review meeting chaired by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
As per the decision, capital Thiruvananthapuram has been included in the Category 3 (threshold 3) which will bring in more restriction.
In the district, it has been found that more than 25% of the people getting hospitalized are Covid patients.
In the district, no gathering for any kind of functions including religious ones will not allowed. All places of worships should conduct prayers only online online.
Maximum 20 people will be allowed in the funerals and marriage functions.
All cinema theatres, swimming pools and gyms will have to be closed down. Only final year classes are allowed in the colleges while in schools only tenth and twelfth classes are allowed.
The meeting observed that due to the increase in the spread of the Covid-19, the hospital admissions have also increased. Hence eight districts Kollam, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Wayanad, Idukki, Palakkad, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta have been included in category B (threshold B).

The category A (threshold A) districts include Kottayam, Malappuram and Kannur. Kasargod and Kozhikode have not been included in any category.
The meeting also gave permission to schools and colleges to close down for two weeks if the attendance of students are below 40% continuously for three days.
The chief minister also directed to take necessary steps on reducing the number of employees who are coming daily to the government secretariat.
