Odisha: Nabarangpur girl gets national Bal Puraskar

KORAPUT: Binita Dash from Nabarangpur district was among the 29 children from across the country who were conferred with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP)-2022 by PM Narendra Modi in a virtual ceremony held on the occasion of National Girl Child Day on Monday, report s Satyanarayan Pattnaik.
Binita, a Class XI student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Anuppur in Madhya Pradesh was selected for the award under the innovation category for discovering asteroids under Khagolshala Asteroid search campaign, held in collaboration with NASA and IASC.

"Since childhood, I was interested in space science and want to pursue my career in this field. The asteroid discovered by me will be named after me," Binita said. "I am a science lover and I am very much interested in innovation," she added. The young astrophysicist has designed an automated sanitizing school bag for schoolgoing children to help them maintain cleanliness during the pandemic.
