Kerala reports 55,475 new Covid cases

The state reported 55,475 Covid-positive cases of the 1,12,281 samples tested in the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The test positivity rate has become 49. 4%.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state reported 55,475 Covid-positive cases of the 1,12,281 samples tested in the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The test positivity rate has become 49. 4%.
With 70 more deaths in the past few days being recorded as Covid deaths, and 84 deaths added from the appeals received, the death toll has become 52,141.
The total active cases have increased to 2,85,365, of which 3.
8% people are admitted either in hospitals or in other treatment centres. At the same time, 30,226 patientshave recovered from the infection.
Of the cases reported on Tuesday, 51,547 cases got infected through local contacts and the sources are not known for 3,373 cases.
From those who arrived from outside the state, 139 tested positive, and 506healthcareworkers were infected on Tuesday. Ernakulam with 9,405 reported the highest number of cases, followed by Thiruvananthapuram (8,606), Thrissur (5,520), Kollam (4,452), Kozhikode (4,432), Kottayam (3,672), Palakkad (3,550), Malappuram (3,138), Kannur (2,578), Alappuzha (2,561), Idukki (2,452), Pathanamthitta (2,311), Kasaragod (1,728) and
Wayanad (1,070).
The number of patients who tested negative are Thiruvananthapuram (8,267), Kollam (632), Pathanamthitta (866), Alappuzha (822), Kottayam (1,706), Idukki (599), Ernakulam (8,641), Thrissur (1,515), Palakkad (1,156), Malappuram (1,061), Kozhikode (2,966), Wayanad (214), Kannur (1,170) and Kasaragod (611).
There are a total of 4,42,466 persons presently under observation in various districts of the stateof which 4,32,124 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 10,342 are in isolation at hospitals.
