Fiji Football Association chief executive officer, Moham­med Yusuf warned district officials to refrain from spreading false information on social media.

Yusuf responded to posts on so­cial media, where a senior district official claimed that they were not consulted by Fiji FA on the deci­sion to expand the Digicel Premier League to 10 teams.

The grievance was on the non- inclusion of a Northern team.

The Fiji FA CEO said there is a regulation in place where any dis­trict officials involving themselves in this mischievous practice will have to defend their case to the eth­ics committee.

“If team officials wish to raise their concern, dispute and seek clarification, they should write to us directly and then during the council meeting, they have the full right to use this platform to dis­cuss their griev­ances,” he said.

Yusuf did con­firm that Bua and Savusavu had objected to the proposal of having, Nadroga and Nasinu promoted to Premier Division this year.

“The other Vanua Levu teams had supported the proposal along with the other districts in Viti Levu,” he said.

Yusuf indicated they had screen­shots of the social media post and they would be writing to the official soon. He said further action would be taken against his conduct.

“It’s an absolute biased action, because we (Fiji FA) had a meet­ing with the Northern Division Senior teams in October, last year when the Digicel Premier League resumed.

“All Northern teams had unani­mously requested that they will not be able to play the home-away two rounds of the Vanua Levu Sen­ior league”.

“They had instead proposed to play five games during the first round, over three consecutive weekends only.”

Yusuf said Northerns teams also requested that prize money for the zonal playoffs be paid to the winner of the league.

“Therefore, they forfeited their right to play the Viti Levu zone winner and miss out on promotion to the Premier Division,” he added.
