Merseyside Fire and Rescue

Firefighter

The fire service is hiring for a firefighters to join their team to help local communities.

The job advert reads: "We are looking for people with the right skills and values, people who are just as passionate as we are and are willing to go the extra mile to protect the most vulnerable people in our communities.

"You will be from those communities and completely understand their needs and be able to support them during a crisis, but equally during our regular contacts created to keep our people safe and well.

"If you’re looking for a life-changing career where you will make a difference every day to the lives of people in your community, then being a Firefighter could be for you."

The salary is £24,191 a year as a recruit firefighter during the 15 week recruit training course.

Upon successful completion of the recruit training course, the salary will go up to £25,198.

After completing the firefighter apprenticeship the salary will go up to £32,244 year and an additional 10% will be paid on completion of recruit training if you are appointed into a duty system with a retained cover element.

Vulnerable Person Advocate

According to the fire service, in this role you will generate and deliver community risk management initiatives that are applicable to the communities throughout Merseyside working in partnership with outside agencies and other home safety advocates.

The job advert said: "You don’t need to have any previous experience of working in fire safety but having experience of working within the community would be advantageous.

"It is important that you are able to manage your own workload. It goes without saying that you will have excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to reassure vulnerable people whilst being clear in what you are saying.

"You will be highly motivated and will be able to work flexibly around the requirements of the role."

The salary is between £22,183 to £24,491 a year.

Business Analyst and Programme Manager

In this role you will be leading and developing project plans, undertaking research and making recommendations on bought-in software applications and services and provide support.

According to the job advert, it said: "We are looking for someone who possess a Degree/HND or equivalent together with Prince 2 accreditation or other similar methodology.

"You should also possess; substantial experience in ICT lifecycle application management, experience of implementing a system that delivers daily business critical information to an organisation, experience of writing user stories and managing a product backlog in an Agile Scrum development project and the ability to use Microsoft Office and Visio.

"Furthermore, a strong understanding of the data dependencies inherit in having integrated systems across a number of departments and a sound working knowledge of current ICT technologies and initiatives are essential requirements."

The salary offered is between £31,346 to £33,782.

Merseyside Police

Occupational Health Nurse Advisor

In this this job, the candidate will provide an occupational health service to protect and promote the health and wellbeing of members of Merseyside Police.

The job advert said the candidate must fulfil a number of criteria, including: "It is essential that the post holder is a Nursing and Midwifery Council Registered General Nurse (Part 1 & 3). You must have a specialist community public health nursing (SCPHN) NMC recognised post graduate qualification / Degree in Occupational Health.

"Knowledge and use of evidence-based practice directly relevant to health and wellbeing in work with knowledge of policing preferred.

"Significant experience working within the field of Occupational Health to enable the post holder to undertake case management and deal with cases in a complex organisation with multiple sites and specialist roles and requirements effectively.

"Must have experience of complex cases of workplace injury and ill health."

The salary offered is between £38,376 to £44,928.

Vehicle Technician

In this role, the person who gets the job will maintain and repair a specialist fleet of police vehicles "efficiently and cost effectively", meeting the force's legislative requirements.

Candidates must have a NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Mechanical & Electronic Systems Light and/or Heavy Vehicle or equivalent or significant relevant experience within the motor vehicle repair industry.

They must also have knowledge of vehicle systems and various repair methods and ability to working on a wide range of manufacturers vehicles.

The job description said the candidate must also have the ability to undertake a range of vehicle body repairs and have knowledge of "additional police warning and communication systems."

The salary offered is between £26,865 to £31,725.

Command Team Secretary

The person who gets this role will provide an "efficient and effective" confidential support service to the ROCU Command Team.

Some of the key responsibilities include possessing "excellent" secretarial skills including, audio typing and word processing together with experience in a secretarial role.

The candidate must also have experience of servicing key meetings and must be able to produce accurate and concise actions to meet deadlines.

The salary offered is between £23,817 to £26,016.

HR Resourcing Officer

As a HR resourcing officer, Merseyside Police want someone who can provide an "efficient and effective" administration function in relation to all HR and DMS matters to all the NWROCU portfolios.

The NWROCU leads the policing response across the region posed by serious and organised crime in Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire, Greater Manchester and North Wales.

The post is subject to an initial secondment of up to two years reviewable based on continuous funding and performance.

The salary is between £23,817 to £26,016.

Capability Leadership and Talent Lead

In this role, the candidate will facilitate the development of the "critical skills and capability" which will enable Merseyside Police to deliver an effective service both now and in the future.

The job description states: "You will be an experienced leader, subject matter expert and bring a wealth of experience of developing and delivering strategy, policy, toolkits and the associated programmes of work, ideally with a large complex organisation."

The salary is between £49,383 to £54,600.

Student Officer - Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship allows people from all backgrounds to obtain a degree while working and earning a full salary as a student police officer.

The programme is delivered in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University and lasts for three years and includes classroom delivery, practical application and tutorship, your time will be varied between on the job training, academic modules, course work and exams.

Starting salary is £24,780.
