JALANDHAR: Punjab minister Rana Gurjit Singh has been openly campaigning for son Rana Inder Partap Singh, who is contesting against Congress candidate Navtej Cheema as an independent from Sultanpur Lodhi, but now even the Punjab Congress’s official Facebook seems to be promoting Inder Partap.
Rana Gurjit is a three-time MLA from Kapurthala, from where he is contesting again, while Sultanpur Lodhi is a neighbouring constituency in the same district, Kapurthala.

On Wednesday, Rana Gurjit’s official FB page posted pictures with text: “Akali Dal members from Sheikh Manga village left their party and joined Congress.” Village Sheikh Manga is part of Sultanpur Lodhi constituency.
However, on Thursday, Punjab Congress’s official Facebook page posted same pictures with text: “Cabinet minister Rana Gurjit Singh welcomed those who left Akali Dal and joined Congress party in Kapurthala.”
The top picture in this post also showed a banner of Rana’s son. The post was available on Congress’s Facebook page till Thursday evening. Rana and his son have been levelling serious allegations against Cheema. He has said on record that his son would win the seat for Congress. Already, several local Congress leaders have joined Inder Partap and also managed a big crowd when he filed his nomination as independent candidate.
