The ‘Divyangjan coach’, technically known as LSLRD coach (LHB second luggage, guard & divyaang compartment), is being introduced in the Bhagalpur-Lokmanya Tilak Express from February 11 and in the Lokmanya Tilak-Bhagalpur Express from February 13.
Similarly, it will be introduced in the Bhagalpur-Ajmer Express from February 10 and in the Ajmer-Bhagalpur Express from February 12.
Ekalabya Chakraborty, the chief public relations officer (CPRO) at Eastern Railway, said it is being done by replacing one Luggage Brake and Generator Car (LWLRRM) in the two pairs of the trains. The LSLRD will also have the capability to convert power from the overhead supply to be utilized in the entire train while providing space for luggage guard room and additional passengers in the specific trains.
Central Railway Rail Passengers Sangh (CRRPS) has welcomed the initiative and demanded such coaches in every long-distance train along with special toilets for elderly and passengers with disabilities.
