PATNA: Three members of a family, including a pregnant woman, sustained burn injuries after they were set on fire in their house on JM Road in Darbhanga on Thursday evening.
Prima facie, property dispute between one Sanjay Jha and Shiv Kumar Jha seems to the reason behind the incident, police said on Friday.
“Sanjay, along with his family, lived in the house. On Thursday evening, Shiv and his men came there with an earthmover machine (JCB) to demolish the house.
Sanjay and his family strongly objected to it. During the altercation, Shiv and his men overpowered them,” SDPO of Darbhanga (Sadar) Krishna Nandan Kumar said.
A video of the incident went viral on social media platforms. The alleged video shows three persons, including a pregnant woman, being set on fire. They were rescued by the local residents, who rushed them to the hospital for treatment.
“We have received a complaint of burn injuries. The victims are undergoing treatment at Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). They are not in a condition to give statements,” the SDPO said.
