PATNA: A video showing dogs occupying beds beside patients in a government hospital in Siwan has gone viral and exposed the functioning of government health centres in the state. Several patients could be seen on the beds, some sleeping, some sitting and one patient even eating while three dogs occupied one of the beds and another one was moving around.
The video is reportedly of a general ward in Siwan Sadar hospital.
Earlier, the video of a dog eating a patient's food in the same hospital had gone viral.
When asked about the incident, Siwan civil surgeon Dr Y K Sharma told TOI that a show-cause notice has been issued to the hospital staff. He called it negligence on the part of security guards of the hospital. Explaining the incident, Dr Sharma said one of the doors of this ward is broken and dogs enter inside from there. “This is in the old building which has to be razed as a new model hospital has to be built there. However, after getting the information, we got the broken portion of the door covered with bricks and plaster on Saturday,” he added.
The video, reportedly shot on February 9 night, went viral on Saturday.
