As Uttar Pradesh heads for the third, fourth and fifth phases of the election, all eyes are set on the central region of Awadh, the heartland of UP. Having possibly endured a bruising contest in the first two phases, BJP needs to capitalise in these intermediary phases, which represent perhaps the most favourable political terrain for the party.
The action for these 179 seats starts with the third phase, on February 20, which traverses three distinct geographies – the middle Doab region of western UP, Awadh and Bundelkhand.
