VIJAYAPURA: A brief row broke out at the Government Degree College in Indi, Vijayapura district, when a student sporting tilak on his forehead was stopped from entering the campus.
Citing the high court interim order, a lecturer barred Gangadhar Badiger, the student in question, from entering the campus.
Badiger later told reporters that the lecturer insisted that he erase the tilak. “Wearing tilak is part of our culture,” Badiger said.
The student was allowed to attend classes but there was no clarity on whether he was made to erase the tilak.
