Sangareddy: Finance and Health Minister T Harish Rao said that the Centre Government’s 15th finance commission has suggested the rest of the states in India replicate the Basthi Dhawakhanas model in their respective urban areas by drawing inspiration from Basthi Dhawakahans set up by the Telangana government in Hyderabad. Saying that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao set up 256 Basthi Dhawakhanas across Hyderabad.
The Health Minister said that the doctors were attending a record 2.50 lakh patients every day in these hospitals.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the Basthi Dahwakhana at LIG Colony in RC Puram Mandal in Sanagreddy district on Saturday, the Health Minister said that they will also set up such Basthi Dhawkhans in the rest of the urban areas in Telangana outside Hyderabad shortly.
Saying that they have opened three Basthi Dhawkahans in Patancheru Assembly Constituency on Saturday in addition to the existing three Dhawakahans, Rao has called upon the citizens of LIG, Bombay Colony, and other nearby colonies to visit LIG Basthi Dhakhanas for treatment since they were providing quality treatment medicines for them. Suggesting them not to waste their money by visiting private hospitals, the Health Minister said that the staff at Basthi Dhawakhanas will conduct 57 kinds of tests for free of cost to the patients.
He said that they have conceived the idea of Basthi Dhawakhana to make all the poor free from ailments by providing free treatment. Saying that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao wanted to provide free quality treatment and English medium education to all in the State, Rao said that Education and Health were their priority apart from Welfare. The Health Minister has inaugurated two other Dhawakhanas on the premises of Primary School in GHMC Ramachandrapuram Division and Primary School Bombay Colony during his visit.
