Patna: A woman constable allegedly committed suicide in the barrack of
Chainpur police station in
Kaimur district on Saturday. The deceased was identified as 25-year-old
Sangeeta Kumari, the daughter of Ram Iqbal Ram of Mahuar village under Ramgarh police station area in Kaimur.
According to police sources, the headphones in her ear indicate that Sangeeta might be talking to someone on the phone before hanging herself with a dupatta from the ceiling fan.
No suicide note was found in her room, which she shared with two other women constables. Police said one of her room-mates was on leave while the other one was on duty on Saturday evening. “Sangeeta was alone in her room when she took the extreme step,” the officials added.
Kaimur SP Rakesh Kumar said the reason behind her suicide could not be ascertained yet. “Sangeeta’s family members have been informed and her body was sent to
Bhabhua Sadar Hospital for the postmortem. Her mobile phone has been seized for further investigation,” he said.
Sangeeta was the 2018-batch constable. She had been posted at Chainpur police station for the last 10 months. After doing duty till Saturday afternoon (from 10am to 2pm), she went to her room on the police station premises.
