Etawah girl escapes from Ukraine, reaches Uzbekistan on way to India
KANPUR: Tejaswita Yadav, a medical student and a native of Etawah, who is pursuing medicine from a medical college in Ukraine, was lucky to have left Ukraine a few hours before the attacks by Russia and reached Uzbekistan on Thursday.
Anita, mother of Tejasvita, told the media that her daughter had reached Uzbekistan by flight a few hours before the start of the war in Ukraine.
She said, “Tejaswita is a student of medical at Vinnytsia National Pirogov Medical University in Ukraine.
She had gone there for studies in 2019."
She reached Uzbekistan by flight from Kyiv at 10 pm local time on Wednesday night, she said further.
Anita said that her daughter had been informed that after her arrival the operation of all the flights was banned.
“Army has been deployed in the city of Kyiv, which is reverberating with back-to-back blasts. People are running away and there is an atmosphere of chaos all over. Also, there was a massive rush among people, who were witnessed queuing up before ATM kiosks to withdraw money. My daughter also reached Uzbekistan with money and books for herself, from there she will take a flight to Delhi. She will reach India by Friday morning,” said Anita further.

She said that her daughter is accompanied by her room partner Anju, who is also pursuing the same course and who hails from Haryana.
The Ukrainian government has instructed the students studying there to collect one months ration and go to bunkers so that their lives can be safe.
Kiev airport is about two and a half kilometers from Tejasvitas medical college.
Anita Yadav said that Tejasvita had, however, reached Kyiv airport on Wednesday evening. “It was only after this that the Ukrainian government announced a curfew. Thereafter Russia attacked Ukraine. We were worried about Tejasvita. But, God helped us in this time of trouble. The whole night, we could not sleep. We heaved a sigh of relief only when she contacted us in the morning and told us that her flight had taken off before the attack,” she said.
