Berhampur: The
BJD has made a clean sweep of the 22 zilla parishad (ZP) seats in Ganjam district whose counting was held on Saturday. The victory margin of 21 out 22 BJD candidates was over 2,000, sources said.
The counting for another 22 ZP zones was being held on Sunday, while the counting for the remaining 25 will be held on Monday.
Chitta Ranjan Panigrahy, who contested for the first time on a BJD ticket from zone 56 in Sheragada block — the home turf of party supremo and chief minister
Naveen Patnaik — secured the highest victory margin of 15,233.
Other candidates who won by big margins included Kalyani Patra (11,858) from zone 44 in Beguniapada block,
Rashmita Nahak (10,661) from zone 19 in Chhatrapur block,
Sibani Sethy (9,389) from zone 8 in Kukudakhandi block and
Radhakant Mahankuda (8,966) from zone 25 in Digapahandi block.
