Nakas Onyeka, a national linebacker and cousin of Kosi and Godfrey, spent a portion of the 2021 season with the Riders. Nakas signed as a free agent with the Edmonton Elks on Feb. 8. Kene Onyeka, another cousin, is a defensive end with Ottawa Redblacks.

Kosi was with the University of Guelph Gryphons for three seasons before signing with the Riders as an undrafted free agent. He had a total of 64 defensive tackles, 3 ½ tackles for a loss and one interception in 25 games with Guelph.

The Riders also announced the signing of American defensive lineman David Kenny, who dressed for four pre-season games in 2019 with the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He had two defensive tackles in pre-season action before being released.

Kenny later signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He finished the 2019 season on Winnipeg’s practice roster.
