PATNA:
Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Friday asked the state’s
chief secretary Amir Subhani and the DGP SK Singhal to take “appropriate action” in the
Bhagalpur explosion case, as the death toll in the incident rises to 14.
Police said altogether 14 bodies were recovered till 4pm on Friday from the wreckage at the incident site located in Kajbalichak area under Tatarpur police station area in Bhagalpur divisional town.
Soon after hearing about the incident, the CM called the chief secretary and the DGP and took detailed information about the explosion.
He asked both the officers to take appropriate actions after conducting a thorough inquiry into the deadly incident.
The CM also asked both the officers to ensure proper treatment of all those people who were injured in the incident.
At least 10 people were injured in the explosion that took place around 11.30pm on Thursday late night.
Most of the injured persons were rushed to Mayaganj hospital.
Singhal said, the Tatarpur police station’s SHO Sudhanshu Kumar has been put under suspension over his failure to check illegal manufacturing of firecrackers in the area.
The explosion took place because of illegal manufacturing of fire crackers in one of the four houses that were reduced to ruins after the blast, police said on Friday.
