Navsari lawyer who got death threats attacked

Surat: A 42-year-old lawyer from Navsari was attacked by a group of people near Khajod who even vandalized his luxurious car. The victim, Vijay Naik, rushed into a factory compound to save himself.
Police booked Vagha Bharwad, Yagnik Soni, Gopal Bharwad, Jago Bharwad for attempt to murder after Naik’s complaint.

Naik lives with his family at Anand Vatika society in Navsari and has been practicing for the last 20 years.Around 10 days ago, one Mafabhai Chosla met him after an offence of attempt to murder was registered against his relative. After discussions, Naik agreed to represent him.
Some days ago, Vagha Bharwad introduced him to Yagnik Soni saying the latter’s father is the opposite party in the case and threatened him to quit the case. Bharwad also told Naik that he had received a contract to kill him if he did quit the case. However, Naik did not take the threats seriously.
Meanwhile, on Sunday evening, he was returning to Navsari after meeting his relatives in Surat. When he was passing near Khajod crossroads in Khatodra, he got stranded in a traffic jam. At the same time, the accused and their aides armed with iron pipes and swords started vandalizing his car. Naik told police that the assailants wanted to kill him but he somehow escaped.
However, the accused chased him and Naik rushed inside a factory compound and informed his brother, who along with his other friend, came and rescued him.
