NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: Authorities have made traffic diversions outside Govindpuram anaz mandi and phul mandi in Noida and Ghaziabad, respectively, for the counting of votes on March 10.
In Noida, the movement of traffic will be restricted from 4am till the completion of vote counting outside the venue at phul mandi. The Gautam Budh Nagar administration has also made parking arrangements in the neighbourhood for people visiting the venue during counting.
In Ghaziabad, a section of Hapur Road — from Hapur Chungi to Dasna — will be closed for traffic.
Ganesh Prasad Saha, deputy commissioner of police (traffic), GB Nagar, said the movement of vehicles on all four sides of Noida’s phul mandi would be restricted on Thursday.
“The Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera (DSC) road passes through phul mandi. This is an important road and we have decided to restrict traffic near the counting venue. People travelling from Kulesra to Phase 2 shall be directed to take a left turn near the Hindon bridge to continue their onward journey. Similarly, commuters going from Noida SEZ to Surajpur will be directed to take a right turn at Gejha T-Point,” he said.
The DCP said that around 100 traffic police personnel will be deployed outside the counting venue on Thursday. “The traffic cell will also monitor vehicular movement on Google Map and take swift action against illegally parked vehicles,” he said.
The police and the district administration have also made a parking facility in the neighbourhood for people visiting the venue during counting. “Candidates and party workers need to park their vehicles in the designated parking area and then walk to phul mandi through gate number 5. There is a separate parking for media persons and poll officials in Phool Mandi near gate number 2,” the traffic police said in a statement.

The Ghaziabad traffic police have also planned similar diversions outside the poll counting venue.
Officials said the stretch from Hapur Chungi to Dasna on Hapur Road will be shut from 6am on March 10 till the end of counting. “Vehicles will be directed to take the Diamond flyover to move to NH-9 while the incoming vehicles will also have to follow the same route. The movement of vehicles will be prohibited on the section of DPS Tiraha to Govindpuram area from 6am till the end of counting,” an official said.
Ramanand Kushwaha, SP (traffic), Ghaziabad, said that the diversion has been planned to avoid unnecessary crowding and congestion in areas close to the counting centre. “The restrictions will be lifted after the counting process is over. Over 250 traffic cops will be deployed close to the counting venue to ease the movement of traffic,” he said.
