Machakos businessman Frederick Mwangi shocked the court earlier today after revealing how he wrestled two robbers who had shot and killed his wife and mother-in-law.
One of the robbers has since been arrested and was presented in court earlier today. According to the DCI, the Suspect Anthony Kilonzo is a GSU officer and was working with another suspect by the name of Gibson Nyabaga who has since been killed.
The 26-year-old was gunned down & two AK Rifles with 18 Live Rounds were recovered by DCI SCPU Detectives at the Katani area in Athi River-Machakos County. The DCI were working on an intelligence-led operation that was triggered by the October 26th, 2019 armed robbery.
During the robbery, a 60-yr-old woman was shot dead after opening the gate for the couple to drive through, before the robbers turned to them, killing the wife instantly.
According to Detectives, the robbers were the ones behind the incident at Wilson Airport where two GSU Officers were attacked on the night of 27th July 2019 while on Guard Duties at the Airport.
One of the officers was murdered with the robbers managing to steal two AK-47 guns. The gang was forensically linked to several armed robberies in NRB County, Central & Eastern regions.
The GSU Officer was arrested several weeks later after he was discharged from a hospital where he had secretly sought the removal of a bullet lodged in his body. Several balaclavas & rifle cleaning oil were also recovered from the suspects’ houses at that time.
