Boy, 12, electrocuted while celebrating Holi in Vijayapura

Vijayapura: A boy died of electrocution while celebrating Holi in Talewad village of Kolhar taluk on Friday. The deceased is Hanamantappa Beerappa Walikar,12. The incident took place when he went to collect water from a tank set up by the gram panchayat. Villagers staged a protest at the GP office, alleging negligence by GP officials. Kudagi police rushed to the spot and convinced villagers to withdraw their agitation.However, villagers have demanded compensation for the kin of the deceased, and to take action against GP officials.
