ARA: A 50-year-old retired Army jawan was killed in a violent clash over a trivial issue at a village under Udwantnagar police station of Bhojpur district on Wednesday. A 26-year-old youth, who was from the rival side, also sustained gunshot injuries in the incident, police said. Four persons have been detained in this connection.
The deceased was identified as Ramprakash Singh, a resident of Karisath village under Gajrajganj OP of Udwantnagar police station, while the injured youth was identified as Rohit Kumar of the same village, who is undergoing treatment at Sadar hospital in Ara.

According to police sources, the incident occurred over a quarrel between children of the two rival families.
As the news of Singh’s murder reached his family members, they became angry and started beating up Rohit, the youth of the rival family. There was a chaos near the emergency ward of the hospital, too, but it was soon brought under control by Gajrajganj outpost SHO and other police officials.
“A quarrel started between the children of our family and those of the accused on Wednesday morning. About 10 people came to his (deceased) home and indulged in firing, resulting in injuries to Ramprakash. He was rushed to a private hospital in Ara that referred him to the PMCH. However, he succumbed to his injuries on the way to Patna,” a cousin of the deceased jawan said.
Gajrajganj OP SHO Chandan Kumar said, “Prima facie the reason behind the murder seems to be a quarrel between children of the rival families. The situation is under control in the village and we are monitoring it. The culprits will be nabbed soon.”
