Gujarat: 5 teens drown in Amreli lake
The sixth student who did not jump into the lake saw them drowning and informed the villagers and parents of the children and informed the police and fire brigade.
RAJKOT: Five teenagers who went to bathe in a lake in Lathi town of Amreli district died of drowning. Their dead bodies were found after a three hours search operation carried out by fire brigade and local swimmers.
According to police the teenagers named Vishal Mer (16), Naman Dabhi (16), Rahul Jadav (16), Meet Galathiya (17) and Haresh Mori (18) jumped into the Naran Sarovar lake in Dudhala village to get relief from the heat.

Amreli deputy superintendent of police J P Bhandari said “There were six students of standard 10 and 11 of Lathi who went to bathe in the lake of Dudhala village, out of that five jumped into the lake. There was a pit of 20 feet inside and they drowned there.”
The sixth student who did not jump into the lake saw them drowning and informed the villagers and parents of the children and informed the police and fire brigade.
A team of Amreli municipality fire brigade reached there and around 12 local swimmers jumped into the lake and found the dead bodies of all five after 3 hours. The dead bodies are sent for post mortem in a government hospital.
