PATNA: At least seven persons were seriously injured in bomb explosions in the backyard of a house at
Walipur under
Pipariya block in Lakhisarai district on Monday morning. The injured were admitted to the
Sadar Hospital for treatment.
The incident took place around 10am when children were playing in the backyard of the house belonging to one
Shankar Rajak. Three bombs were kept in a plastic bag near the construction materials kept there.
When one of the kids opened the bag and started playing with the bombs, they exploded one by one with loud noise.
The injured have been identified as
Sundari Devi (30), wife of Dilip Rajak of Walipur, Mani Devi (60), wife of Uttam Rochak, Manju Devi (55), wife of Shankar Rajak, their daughter Anita Kumari (18), Dilkhush Kumar (8), son of Mukesh Rajak and Dinesh Rajak’s sons Bablu Kumar (10) and Sonu Kumar (12).

Sushil Kumar said three crude (’sutli’) bombs were kept in a plastic bag. “According to the family members, the bombs were kept near the bricks and other construction materials, but they have no clue how the explosive items reached their home,” he said.
Kumar said three kids playing in the backyard received burn injuries while a few women of the house were also injured as they were busy in the construction work. “All the injured are safe and undergoing treatment at the hospital,” the SP said.
ASP Syed Imran Masood said a team of experts had been called to investigate the explosions. “It will be clear only after investigation that where did the bombs come from and who had placed them,” he said.
