By

Although there's no stylus support as with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, or optionally with the Motorola Edge 30 Pro, Oppo is banking on super advanced cameras powered by the custom MariSilicon X chip and a Hassleblad partnership, very stylish design, incredibly super fast charging, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 power, a super generous pre-order deal and more to win your heart, mind and wallet.

Oppo. Say it fast and it might sound like Apple, but it is pronounced "Oh-Poh", and its flagship Find X5 Pro has arrived in Australia at last, flanked by two other Find X5 series models, and it's the first to be powered Oppo's custom MariSilicon X imaging NPU, and other industry-leading features.

As Oppo advises, this new 2022 flagship series comprises "three powerful and premium devices" including the hero handset, the Oppo Find X5 Pro, at $1,799. The Pro boasts 4K Ultra Night Video Powered by MariSilicon X, a dual flagship 50MP IMX766 camera system, the cred of the Hasselblad Camera for Mobile software, 80W SuperVooc Flash-charging technology that can charge to 50% in 12 minutes and 100% in 34 minutes, and 50W AirVooc wireless charging that can charge to 100% in just 50 minutes.

The Find X5 Pro is flanked by its two smaller brothers, the Oppo Find X5 at $1,399, which also includes what Oppo says is the outstanding dual IMX766 camera system, powered by MariSilicon X imaging NPU, a 6.5” 120Hz billion-colour display, support for 80W SuperVooc charging, 30W AirVooc wireless charging and more.

Completing the line up is the Find X5 Lite, coming in at an affordable $799. With the Find X5 Lite, Oppo says users can "express their authentic selves through professional portraits thanks to its outstanding camera configuration and AI-enhanced imaging features. Under the hood, the Find X5 Lite holds a 64MP main camera, 8MP Ultra Wide-Angle Camera, 2MP Macro Camera, 4500mAh battery, with 65W SuperVooc Flash-charging and Hyperboost Empowered gaming."

Here's the full launch video, after which the article continues, so please read on!

Oppo Australia’s Managing Director, Michael Tran said: “With our latest flagship series, we are breaking new ground in advanced technologies and human-centric user experience. The Find X5 Series continues to propel Oppo forward into the high-end market, with its futuristic design, technological innovations and premium International Warranty Service, every aspect of the Find X5 Series has been tailored to deliver the best possible user experience. All the while, sticking to Oppo’s mission of making premium accessible.

To coincide with the local launch, Oppo is running incredibly generous and special pre-order promotions across the country for the much-anticipated series. When pre-ordering the Find X5 Pro at selected retailers, Aussies will get a range of high-end accessories including Oppo Enco X earphones, an Oppo Watch Free, an AirVooc 50W wireless charger, and a Find X5 Pro Kevlar case, all valued at AUD $686.

Continued Focus on Sustainability

The Australian Find X5 Series launch was held at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo, to mark the commencement of a new annual partnership between the smart device leader and the Taronga Conservation Society, as Oppo continues to put sustainability goals at the forefront of its entire product lifecycle.

To begin the corporate sponsorship, Oppo and Taronga are working together to actively reduce the number of smartphones that end up in landfill through a new device donation program to collect, recycle and refurbish unwanted phones, tablets and accessories.

Tran added: “At Oppo, we are committed to exercising our corporate social responsibility to address both local and global environmental challenges to proactively make a positive change.

“Every year millions of smartphones are discarded and end up in landfill. The environmental impact is unfathomable, but every little bit we can do will help to minimise that impact. So we’re encouraging everyone to actively donate their old, unwanted phones, so they can be properly recycled and diverted from landfill that will create unnecessary waste. We see the partnership as an Opportunity to reduce our carbon footprint and amplify the sustainability efforts of Taronga Conservation Society dedicated to preserving our nature."

Leila Davis, Divisional Director, MCF at Taronga Conservation Society Australia said: “We are thrilled to have Oppo Australia on board as a new Corporate Partner providing valuable support to Taronga Conservation Society Australia. We look forward to amplifying mobile phone recycling through the partnership."

The partnership is the latest sustainability announcement from Oppo, as earlier in the year the brand announced its commitment to building a global supply chain that is safe, accountable and sustainable.

A few of the other sustainability focused initiatives detailed this year from Oppo include:

  • Plastic usage in packaging material has been reduced by up to 95% in 2021 compared to 2019, and about 45% of the packaging material comes from recycled fiber.
  • To increase product durability, Oppo has introduced the self-developed Battery Health Engine to increase the lifespan of its batteries. With this innovative technology, the battery capacity is able to be maintained at as high as 80% after up to 1600 charging-discharging cycles, doubling industry standard.
  • Establishing service and repair centres across major cities in Australia, allowing customers to return outdated models for Oppo to recycle and reuse. Alongside regularly donating older models to charities and partners.

So, what are the details on pricing and availability for each of the new models?
